This is a Bespaq collector's cabinet in the new walnut finish, which I have filled with a
collection of tiny genuine natural history specimens.
The cabinet contains a natural history collection in miniature: 12 fossils, 31 shells, 2 sea stars,
a gastropod operculum, a couple of other marine curiousities, 14 crystal & mineral specimens,
and finally four artificial butterflies (can't get tiny ones of those!). A few of the shell groupings highlight the wonderful range of variation within the dove shell,
umbonium, phasianella and nerite families, while the other shells are individuals.
I have carefully chosen all the specimens to work well in miniature in terms of size, form and
colour and to give an idea of their true scale I have photographed them with a couple
of shells from my real life shell collection. The tiny shells are just exquisite, and
the colours and shine are all natural.
Crystals and minerals include amethyst, galena, arborescent copper, azurite, velvet malachite,
sulphur, leopard skin agate, two forms of quartz, vanadinite, and pyrite. Fossils include a bivalve,
brachiopod, various forms of bryozoan, and an assortment of different crinoid stem pieces.
I love opening miniature drawers and finding them full of treasures, and this piece certainly
allows that!

The cabinet is in 1:12 scale, measuring 4 15/16 inches (12.5 cm) high, 2 1/8 inches (5.4 cm) wide and 1 1/2 inches (3.8 cm) deep. All the specimens are discreetly glued in place.
