Bette Davis "TWO'S COMPANY" Vernon Duke 1952 Tryout

I'm currently listing a large number of playbills from out-of-town tryouts prior to the Broadway runs. Many are from early performances when revisions were common and include song titles that were cut before opening in New York ........ This is a rare set of inserts announcing changes in the running order of the sketches and musical numbers in the VERNON DUKE and OGDEN NASH musical revue "TWO'S COMPANY" which was in tryouts at the Nixon Theatre in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. (The production would open December 15th, 1952 at the Alvin Theatre in New York City and run for only 90 performances.) ..... The musical starred the legendary BETTE DAVIS in her only Broadway musical appearance and featured HIRAM SHERMAN, NORA KAYE, BILL CALLAHAN, NATHANIEL FREY (replaced out-of-town by DAVID BURNS), STANLEY PRAGER, PETER KELLEY, GEORGE IRVING, MARIA KARNILOVA, ANN HATHAWAY, TINA LOUISE and ROBERT ORTON'S TEEN ACES ..... The two inserts measure 5 7/8" X 8 7/8" inches, are blank on the backsides and show just how drastic changes often are in the early development of a musical production ..... CUT SONG: The list of musical numbers includes "I Think You're Pretty, Too" which was cut out-of-town ..... CONDITION: With the exception of light folds, this rare set is in excellent condition and will make a wonderful addition to the collection of any musical theatre aficionado or historian .....
