One of a kind jewelry, hand-crafted by a mother and daughter in California.

"Bracken Designs is a family business of art enthusiasts. Our original designs combine with the work of other artists, including southeast Asian silversmiths, U.S., Australian, and European glass lampworkers, and polymer clay experts from around the globe. As accents to the handcrafted beads, we use high grade gemstones, vintage beads, precious metals, and Swarovski crystals from Austria."

I like to show very large photos of our work so you can see the details, but because these enlarged photos can be misleading I also put the measurements in the item descriptions. Our live model (not used in all listings) has a six inch wrist. Thanks!

This piece is created with:

  • 22k Vermeil (20x10mm): To make vermeil, sterling silver beads are coated with a heavy layer (at least 1.5 micrometres thick) of 10-22k gold, a technique developed by the French in the mid 1700’s. There are no base metals in Vermeil.

  • 14k Gold Fill (the leverbacks): 5% (1/20) of 10-24kt gold and far more durable than gold-plating or gold electro-plating, as it is mechanically bonded to the base metal Gold fill is the majority of the gold we work with because it is substantially more enduring than plated, yet it's still a fraction of the cost of solid gold.

The earrings measure about 1¾ inches from the top of the leverbacks to the bottom of the earrings.
