The huge Mosler Safe building in Hamilton, Ohio is now gone, but this key survived thanks to a gentleman who retired from there many years ago. It's an incredible looking key, but I really don't know what to call it. It has adjusting / replaceable "teeth."
It is 5 1/4" long and weighs a whopping 5 1/2 ounces.
As you can see, there is a number on there. You'll also notice the open "barrel" end and the screw for adjusting and/or removing and replacing the teeth.
Yup! Two extras are attached with a ring.
Here at 341, I have two "Prime Directives:"
First: I never, under any circumstances, use a reserve, and everything starts at $9, sometimes even less.
Second: I don't clean, repair, or otherwise monkey around with anything. I push enough dust aside to note any flaws, but if I discovered it in some dusty attic, you can look forward to a little dust on it when it gets to your house. If it has a flaw or a wart, I'll tell you about it. So rest easy and have some fun. Why not place a little tiny bid right now so's you don't forget about it later.
Before I forget: I also bought two more giant brass keys from the guy, as well as a piece of sculpture signed by the founder's son, Henry Mosler, a very famous artist listed as being from both Cincinnati, Ohio and New York, New York. The sculpting is a large, heavy portrait plaque of Gustave Mosler, the founder of Mosler Safe Company.
If you're a key collector or a collector of things related to Mosler Safe, you're going to be thrilled. I'll list the other items asap.
GOOD LUCK
