Reproduction Prints from the 1953 Patent Drawings
for Guitar Vibrato Tailpieces by Paul A. Bigsby
This auction is for a set of two reproduction prints from the vintage patent drawings that Paul Bigsby submitted to the United States Patent Office for classic guitar vibrato tailpieces.
Before there was Floyd Rose, there was Paul Bigsby. His vibrato tailpieces are works of art and have been offered as factory options on Gibson, Fender, Gretsch and many other classic guitars even to this day.
Still in production, these vibrato units are so well regarded that none other than Ted McCarty (who had patented his own design for a vibrato tailpiece as well as the first Les Paul model and Flying V guitars, among other innovations) took over management of the Bigsby company after leaving his post as president of Gibson.
There are two separate patent drawings included in this auction and each will be provided on artist quality, acid-free, 60-pound parchment style paper as shown above.

Prints are 8.5" by 11.0" (21.6 by 27.9 cm) in size and are ready to frame for display.
They are packaged in archive-safe, acid-free sleeves and shipped flat in a stiffened mailer to ensure safe arrival.
