Black Curta Calculator Type II

The finest mechanical Calculator of the world !

(First Pocket Calculator)

This very early and rare black Curta II is technical in mint and optical in near mint condition.

It is a highlight for each technical museum, collector, engineer and mathematician.

This Curta II is 55 years old and used, but only with very small usemarks.

The fascinating mechanism is running very smoothly.  It's working perfectly with full function.

The calculator was produced in June 1954 in Liechtenstein/Switzerland with the number 501534  from near 60.000 pieces.

The first Curta II was black, like the Curta I.  The later Curta II have a grey outer casing.

It is 90mm high, has a diameter from 65mm, weighs 360 g and has 719 parts.

The Type II is the second and greatest of the two types ever made and has an 11-place setting register, an 8-place indicating dial and a 15-place answering dial.

This exceptional piece of precision machinery was the subject of a Scientific American article "The Curious History of the first Pocket Calculator" in the January 2004 issue: "Curt Herzstark built the most ingenious calculating machine ever to grace an engineers's hand: the Curta Calculator."

You find also an article in the Readers' Digest (July 2005).

It comes with:

·        the fine and rare original special shock-resistant metal-carrying can, outside with some signs of wear

·        Operation Instructions with pictures in English (18 sides/copy)

·        Computing Examples in English (more than 50 sides/copy)

·        Computing Examples in German (very rare article from 1958 "schweizerische Bauzeitung"/copy)

·        two colored advertising papers in German (copys)

·        and a copy of the Readers' Deagest article

I guarantee fast shipping.
