Powder Blue Low Cut Draped Saber Belt
Vintage 70s Victor Costa Copying Estevez Dress Gown S/M

36 bust * 28 waist * open hips * 15 shoulder to shoulder
25.5 sleeves * 58 mid-shoulder to hem

When I first set eyes on this beautiful gown I knew it had to be an Estevez. And so it is, sort of. It's Victor Costa, noted and talented fashion copyist, doing a line for line copy of a Luis Estevez dress. Which should be of interest to any Estevez collector.

Dating from the mid 1970s, it has a plungingly low cut V-neckline with faux wrap bodice under a large wing collar, with gathers on either side. The gathers on the front extend onto the wide belt loop, and down onto the front of the skirt, which is actually a separate piece sewn onto the full skirt, but it looks like a long graceful drape extending from the waist. The belt is covered (including the buckle), fastens on the back and from the front has an unusual and eyecatching 'saber' detail on the left side. Long sleeves that fasten with covered buttons at the cuffs. The color is really closer to robin's egg blue than powder blue (but that wouldn't fit in the title), and the fabric is a midweight poly jersey. It bears both the early Victor Costa and I. Magnin labels. A beautiful gown, and if you're an Estevez fan, as I am, you're going to love it!

Condition: Excellent, near mint. Its only flaw is a small pinhole on the right side of the collar. Photo below.

Shipping: I ship via Priority, and it'll be $10.00 within the U.S., including delivery confirmation, plus $2.60 for insurance. $18.00 for International First Class shipping. All Catbooks1940s purchases will arrive to you in a box, nestled in crisp white acid-free tissue.
