Once in a while, we get something from an estate that is really unusual. This dress was literally found in a trunk that had been stored for over 50 years, so we cannot really guess the actual age of the dress. The owner was an old Mexican lady, and the box shows that it appears to have been custom made in Mexico City (Mexico D.F.). There are no tags. It appears to be lace and taffeta, and there are tiny buttons closing the back up to the neck and at the sleeve cuffs. The fabric is very delicate and brittle. There is a side zip above the waist, princess seams, and two odd bustles on the side of the dress that could operate as huge pockets for something. It would make a nice addition to a theatre company wardrobe.

The garment was measured on a dummy, and the measurements are approximate. It was made for a short woman, approximately 5 feet tall. It should fit an American 10 Petite (Euro 8 Petite) perfectly, but if used as a costume, would also fit an 8P (Euro 6P) or 12P (Euro 10P; although I would be very, very careful squeezing into this dress because the lace is so old). The lace has pulled apart ever so slightly at certain points in the sleeves, but it could be easily repaired and isn't noticeable. Please take your measurements to be sure that this garment is the right size. Examine photos carefully, ask questions and provide us with any special shipping instructions BEFORE you bid. Please note that this dress was stored for many years. It has a slight musty smell, but not unbearably unpleasant.
