Rare opportunity to own a peice of American History:
This property is on the National Historic Registry.
For sale is the garage apartment which was at one time the residence of Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow.
On April 13, 1933 at this apartment the Barrow gang and law enforcement officers engaged in a gun battle resulting in the death of two lawmen.
This property has been meticulously restored.
Many guests including authors and enthusiasts from around the world have overnighted at the property. In 2008 the BBC visited and filmed the apartment for a documentary that aired on the History Channel.
The most famous photos of Bonnie and Clyde were recoved from Bonnie's Kodak Brownie camera left behind at the apartment after the getaway.
Residing in the apartment with Bonnie and Clyde was Buck Barrow (Clyde's brother), Blanche Barrow (Buck's Wife) and W.D. Jones.
The Ford V-8 in which the Barrow gang escaped during the historical gun fight was kept hidden in the garage below. A Marmon automobile owned by Buck was left in the garage and recovered by law enforcement.
Unsurprisingly an arsenal was found in the apartment. The gang had to leave unexpectedly when officers attempted to capture them.
Some of Bonnie's poetry was written in the apartment. Even more intriguing are Blanche's published memoirs that vividly describe the apartment, the relationships and the life of the Barrow gang while living in there.
The colored listing pictures are current. They include the exterior, bedrooms, living area and kitchen. Also shown is a period photo, crime sceene photo and map of the apartment. One of the most famous photos of Bonnie "cigar smoking Bonnie" was recovered undeveloped at the apartment by law enforcement.
This auction also includes a three bedroom one bath home that is currently rented for $650 per month. It is a 3 bedroom 1 bath home. It is in very good condition. It is of matching stone and on the same lot. It was owned by the landlord who rented the property to Bonnie and Blanche. The last photo is of the front exterior of the home.
