Up for auction is a solid red oak bookbinding press. The press measures 16" x11" x 14" . It opens to a distance of 7"  which is enough space to press several thick books simultaneously. The press can accommodate books up to 12" wide between the posts. This press functions both vertically and horizontally giving it the advantages of both a standing and lying press for great versatility, something cast iron presses can't do.  The 12"  screw on this press  features a heavy- duty  acme thread which allows for much more pressing strength and a much smoother movement than a normally threaded screw. This is the same type of threading used in bench vises.  The press has been finished with multiple coats of a hand rubbed finish for long lasting durability and beauty.

This is a very reasonably priced press of exceptional quality. I'm an amateur bookbinder and I have been using an identical press for several years with fantastic results. But don't take my word for it, shop around and take a look at the other presses available on Ebay and from professional bookbinding suppliers.
