Bouviers (as seen in the movie and book the famous" Dog of Flanders") are a remarkable breed of dog, quite rare, although they are AKC.
Bouviers (also known as “dirty Beards”) are used for everything from herding cattle and sheep to companions, tracking, and even police and seeing-eye dogs.
They served as “war dogs” in WWI when the Germans put such a high bounty on them and the breed was almost wiped out.
If you own one or are considering making a home for an unusual breed of large, brave, and powerful dog, you will enjoy reading and having this book.
We are former Bouvier breeders and are definitely NOT recommending this powerful and intelligent breed for every owner. They are unusual dogs for unusual owners.
Our kennel is closed, please do not write to ask us for information about obtaining a Bouvier pup, we are no longer familiar with the other breeders and cannot make any recommendations.
This is the new revised edition with a vast number of photographs and data on many champions.
