This is a beautiful hand made rubbing of Edward the Black Prince, created with gold wax crayon on a special black rag paper. This rubbing is taken from a replica of a modern 'brass' and measures 28" high X 15" wide. Engraved from the detail on the Prince's memorial statue in Canterbury Cathedral, this modern 'brass' shows the family's heraldic emblems clearly. The Black Prince was the eldest son of Edward III but died before his father and was never crowned. He is famous for his chivalry and prowess in battle and was given his name because he wore distinctive armour. His son was King Richard II who was the last of the Plantaganet monarchs.
The 'brass' from which this rubbing was made is from an exhibition featured at The Washington National Cathedral by The London Brass Rubbing Centre and has more recently been on a National tour as part of their brass rubbing workshop. Rubbings like this one, hand made by one of their craft instructors, make spectacular wall hangings and are interesting and unusual gifts for friends and family. I will send it to you rolled up in a strong postal tube. It can be hung either from wooden dowels or matted and framed under glass. If you order more than one brass rubbing I will be pleased to offer a combined shipping cost if the rubbings can be rolled together and shipped at one time. Shipping and handling charges include insurance cover during transit. You can find a wide variety of gold, silver and unique multi-colored rubbings for sale in my eBay Store,
