For complete information about this excellent little stove, consult www.brasslite.com The Turbo II-D (2.8 oz/ 80 gm) is the improved version of the Turbo II (now discontinued). The Turbo II-D has a double wall (the reason for the "D" in the name), which creates significantly improved flame control. The Turbo II-D is for use by one to two people. It has a fuel capacity of 2 US fluid ounces (60 ml) and will burn for a maximum time of 20 minutes on a full load (longer if simmering). The minimum recommended minimum cook pot base diameter is 4 inches (10 cm). Flame size can be adjusted by partially closing the ports to compensate for pots that are on the borderline of the stove's recommended minimum capacity and base diameter. For example, the Evernew 0.9 L titanium pot and the MSR Titan titanium pot (0.85 L) each meet the minimum recommended minimum pot base diameter but are smaller than 1 liter. The maximum recommended pot capacity for the Turbo II-D is 2 liters. Specifications for the Turbo II-D: Construction Materials: Body: 30 ga. brass shim (0.012 in, 0.305 mm) Simmer Sleeve: 32 ga. brass shim (0.008 in, 0.203 mm) 0.5 in. stainless steel wire cloth Medium grade jewler's silver solder (melting point 1275 F, 690 C) Width of chamber and stand: 2.4 in(60mm) Width of Preheat Pan: 3.0 in (75mm) Height of chamber: 1.7 in (43 mm) Overall Height: 2.75 in (70 mm) Side Port Diameter: 8 mm Top Port Diameter: 25 mm Weight: 2.8 US oz (80 gm) + Fuel capacity: 2 US fluid oz (60 ml) Total burn time using 1 US fluid oz (30 ml) of methanol is about 10 minutes * Time to bring 16 US fluid oz (475 ml) water to boil: 5:00 * Time to bring 32 US fluid oz (946 ml) water to boil: 9:00 ** + Weighed on Royal EX-2 digital scale accurate +/- 0.1 ounce. * Tested in windless and light wind conditions, warm and cold temperatures. The average was taken. Burn time may be affected by environmental factors such as temperature, wind and conservation of heat inside the windscreen. Field tests have shown that wrapping a windscreen too close to the stove while using a pot with less than 5 in (13 cm) diameter base may dramatically reduce burn time. ** Stove trials involved three test burns, and the average time is posted. Cookpot used for Turbo I tests: Evernew 0.9 liter titanium pot. Cookpot used for Turbo II-D tests: Evernew 1.3 liter titanium pot. Starting water temp: 50 degrees F(10 C). Interior environment was used. Room and fuel temps: 70 degrees F (22 C). Elevation: 80 ft. No simulated wind. No windscreen, or heat reflector. Stove sitting on plywood surface. Starting fuel amount used for Turbo II-D: 2 US fluid oz (60 ml), plus 2 ml preheat. The Turbo II-D consistently boiled 16 oz (500 ml) in an average time of 5 minutes. Larger pot sizes, metal type and thickness, wind conditions, windscreen position, lower starting temperature of water, lower outside air temperature, and elevation may all increase field boil times. |
