| This is a nice specimen of the Brenham Pallasite. This meteorite was found in Kiowa County, Kansas in 1882. Many masses were found, with a total known weight of over 6 metric tons! Brenham is one of the most famous Pallasites out there, and is a must for any serious meteorite collection due to it's historical value. Brenham is well known as an unstable meteorite, a meteorite which can rust if not properly stored in a very dry environment. I DO NOT recommend this meteorite for a humid area like Florida for example or somewhere right on the ocean. It must be stored properly and monitored for oxidation damage. I am simply putting this information in the auction for the buyer to be aware of some of the issues associated with this meteorite. This specimen weighs 6.675 grams and is a beautiful polished partslice with metal and nice translucent crystals. It is sealed in a plastic display box with dessicant beads to prevent oxidation. There should be no issues as long as the box is sealed to prevent moisture from entering. I am a meteorite dealer and fully gaurantee the authenticity of every meteorite and tektite specimen I sell.
Be sure to see me in the March 1999 issue of the Smithsonian Magazine, I am featured in an article about meteorite hunters! I am also featured in Fortune Small Business magazine. Fortune Small Business Magazine Buyer pays $5.00 shipping. I combine shipping for multiple items. |
