Bronze - Friedrich Gornik 1922 Listed Aritist Signed Pc

Offered for auction is a bronze by Freidrick Gornik- Frederick Gornik-1877-1943.

Cast Bronze F. Gornik Art Nouveau/Deco? ceremonial bowl done in a unique style measuring 8.25 inches from handle to handle and standing 2.5 inches high-Patination done at the foundry is in excellent condition-minimal expected and desired wear to the raised by handling to the relief that is part of the contrasting effect intended by the artist.

Friedrich Gornik Austrian B 1877 D 1943,  studied sculpture at the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts. He did work for porcelain factories in Austria depicting small animals, objects d'art, desk sets, and later having them cast in bronze. Late in his career Gornik did Wild Western bronzes along the lines of Remington. Gornik was an excellent sculptor and his works are extremely well regarded and somewhat rare so that prices rise. This is signed F. Gornik 1922 under the handle and Austria on the bottom which is a solid bronze with a beautiful patina.The piece is as I stated earlier in excellent condition. In my research it is the only bronze of Gornik's I found done in this patinated relief manner although I'm sure others will surface. The patination gradually wears off with handling in the raised area of the relief so that as the years go by you get a strond contrast between the lightest and darkest areas of the bowl.
