It is an original ring as in not cleaned or fooled with in any way. This bronze ring can be restored to a gold-like appearance by any jeweler...or leave the outside original and just polish the inside of the ring. If the ring is totally cleaned, the patina is removed along with proof of its antiquity. Before you have it cleaned, retain color photos of the ring in its original state as additional proof of its antiquity.
After all, people used bronze for jewelry because it looked like gold but was much less expensive. In ancient and medieval times gold was far more expensive in relative terms than today. Back then, it was a labor intensive operation to remove gold with none of the machinery or acids used today that reduce the costs of recovery.

For your interest ...
Three of the best areas to collect are ancient iron arrow/spearheads, fibulas & ancient rings. The reasons for this include that there are sufficient numbers being found in Europe to help keep the prices reasonable. Of course, this could change in a day if certain European countries were to enforce their laws on exporting antiquities. For the time being, they mostly ignore diggers & collectors who use metal detectors to look for buried treasure. This is in direct contrast to the rarer items being found such as quality gold jewelry, museum quality weapons, statues and other truly significant antiquities or Medieval material. Illegally exported/imported museum quality truly rare material can be, and is being seized. After all, no one has the right to rob a nation of any significant pieces of their heritage.
For now, collectors can have a ball with ancient/Medieval small weapons, fibulas and rings. This is an especially good place to start for new collectors. It will allow them to gain experience for a small investment per item. This is important because there are countless unscrupulous importers, diggers, sellers & collectors that prey on the innocent...meaning new collectors.
Also, with these great collectibles it allows buyers to compare prices to other items more or less comparable to what they want to bid on. Frankly, if you pay a little “too much” to get what you want, you didn’t overpay...you got something that pleases you. And that is what collecting is all about. Also, quality doesn’t cost, it pays. If you want to make money on your investments, switch to rare/semi-rare US coins which are in the early stages of a bull market and being propelled by a BULL MARKET in gold. {See certifiedcoins.com for more info on this fascinating and potentially profitable area of collecting called numismatics, and be sure to check our eBay auctions.}
And part of the fun is to buy these relatively inexpensive items and research them yourselves. Imagine what these things would cost if professional archeologists did the work? Even worse, they must have official permission to dig, and the host country gets their choice of what is found, and in many cases they get to keep everything that is discovered. That would mean the end of inexpensive ancient material. It may come to that, but for today enjoy yourselves.
Bon Chance,
