Because you deserve a good night's sleep.
Offered for your consideration is a handmade Japanese-style buckwheat hull pillow, filled with organic buckwheat hulls. I have a set of these pillows on my own bed, as I have an old whiplash injury that causes me some neck pain, and on the advice of my naturopath I recently replaced my old feather pillows with a combination of buckwheat hull pillows and kapok pillows. The buckwheat hull pillows have virtually eliminated the neck and shoulder pain that used to keep me tossing and turning half the night. Buckwheat hulls gently conform to the shape of your head, neck, and shoulders, providing a firm, resilient resting surface. The cervical support provided by buckwheat hull pillows is unmatched by any other fill substance, and they are frequently recommended by chiropractors, naturopaths, and other health care professionals. Buckwheat hull pillows have been used in the Far East for centuries, and their popularity in the West has been growing by leaps and bounds in recent years. I use only U.S. certified-organic buckwheat hulls in my pillows, to insure that they are free of pesticides and other chemicals.
Your pillow will be covered with soft pre-quilted cotton muslin fabric, and filled with about 4.5 pounds of organic buckwheat hulls. Each pillow is in the traditional smaller Japanese size, 14 inches by 20 inches. The quilted cover adds just enough light padding to muffle the "Rice Krispies" noise associated with buckwheat hulls; it also helps the pillow hold its shape. (Quilted muslin fabric comes in 3-4 different styles, and although it's all pretty much the same, your pillow's fabric may look a bit different than the one pictured. This doesn't affect the quality of your pillow at all.) It is not advisable to get buckwheat hulls wet, but your pillow can be rejuvenated with an hour or two of airing in the fresh air and sunshine. Dry cleaning is not recommended if you plan to sleep on your buckwheat hull pillows, as the fumes of dry-cleaning fluid are toxic when inhaled.
These pillows are also available, either singly or in pairs, in twin/full (20" x 26") and queen-size (20" x 30") in my eBay store. Please feel free to email me with any questions, and thanks for looking.
