Mutt and Jeff Daily Comic Strip Art

Mutt and Jeff star in a five-panel, black faced minstrel skit on stage -- a bit unusual as both Mutt and Jeff have also shaved off their mustaches (I believe this is a first).

The theme may seem racist by today's standards but it was considered normal from this era. As a very interesting piece of history, It was drawn and published eleven months before Al Jolson made history with Warner Brothers first sound movie, The Jazz Singer, which followed this theme of a white man performing as a black entertainer.


This strip was framed along with a three-color film overlay (done by Susan Daigle-Leach) in order to give the piece a striking full-color look.


This original daily art has an image area that measures approximately 27" x 7" but is professionally matted and framed much larger.
The art is in Excellent condition.
