Build Your Own Hydraulic Powered Water Well or Geothermal Drilling Rig The hydraulic motor spec'd for this rig produces 21 hp and is 85% efficient in energy conversion. Rig is scalable to fit Your needs!
The purchaser will be sent by email usually within 1 hour of payment clearing PayPal a condensed Adobe pdf file and the web link to enter the File download area at our website. The file area is where you may view and download the 66 pages of information and our drilling tips. The Hydraulic Drilling Rig comes in two different designs. One is the the basic rig with direct hydraulic drive using a "T" water swivel for shallower wells and the 2nd rig design uses a simple side shaft drive with an "inline water swivel" for deeper wells and allows thousands of pounds of downward pressure to be exerted on the drill bit. The cost to upgrade to the side shaft drive is around $150.00. When you purchase the info package you receive information on both rig designs. The two designs consist of a rig that may connected to the 3 pt on a tractor or be used as a standalone rig. With some imagination you can device your own methods to mount the rig to a trailer, or skidsteer, etc. if needed. If you are a DIY type of individual then the photo's alone are worth a 1,000 words. The basic Hydraulic Powered Drilling Rig as designed is rated at 21 hp and can supply from 410 up to 7,000 inch pounds of torque with rpms ranging from 4 to 447 (5,210 inch #'s at 164 rpms). Both rig designs are scalable to suit your drilling needs. Will she drill? A self contained rig mounted on a trailer with a smaller hydraulic motor then spec'd in the info. package on a test run drilled to 210' and through a very, very, hard layer of rock from 175' to 208'. The average time to run through a 10' stick while in this very, very, hard rock without a DTH (down hole hammer) was +/- 35 minutes. All in all it took a little less than two hours to get through the solid 33' formation. What other goodies are installed? Move the motor spool control valve to the opposite position and the hydraulic motor reverses rotation for breakout of the pipe from the couplings. A 12 volt reversible winch pulley system to raise and lower the drive collar and to apply downward pressure. Mast can be made removable to make moving it simpler or to change the height to match your drill pipe length requirements. No tractor or other hydraulic machinery! Besides tractors... other equipment which have hydraulics are: skid steers, back hoes, trenchers, some lawn mowers, etc. What you will need to construct the rig: Welder, metal cutting saw, cutting torch or plasma cutter, grinder, electric drill with assortment of bits, vise, clamps, assortment of wrenches, and some imagination. Time to construct the Rig: If you have all the material on hand and the equipment then expect to spend 8 to 12 hours to construct the rig. If your are building the side shaft drive rig add an hour or two. It is simply a very efficient design with few moving parts. Operating the Rig: Easily a one person operation though two adults should work together for safety reasons........... There just isn't any comparison: With a footprint spanning over 13 square feet you can also drill a hole for that favorite tree you've wanted to put in the ground, drill large deep holes for anchoring your entry gate, or even drill piers for a foundation. We do not recommend constructing your rig to use 5 ft sections of drill pipe. We recommend 7ft minimum to 10 ft maximum lengths. The #1 problem with running 5 ft sticks besides to many connections which means you must change pipe out more often is plugging of the drill bit. If you are in soft material some of our hydraulic rigs can push a 10 ft stick of pipe in the ground without even turning the bit. If you have soft material to drill you want to spend time drilling not changing drill pipe out every couple minutes. 10 ft pipe is our max because the structural supports for a 20ft plus mast to run 20 ft sections of drill pipe would make the rig very expensive. The rigs in the info package are not toys! Our smaller home use rigs are designed similar to the big rigs, just not as heavy or as powerful. We want you to be successful in drilling in nearly all formations, not just dirt, sand, gravel, or shale. All of our rigs are DTH (down hole hammer) capable by simple changes to some components while building your rig. If you have metamorphic rock (granite, etc.) think seriously about using a DTH.... you may need it. If you have limestone, or sedimentary rock then most likely you will not require a DTH. The use of downward pressure on the bit is strongly encouraged when drilling through hard rock without a DTH. If you cannot exert downward pressure when drilling through rock then drilling through rock in any reasonable amount of time is almost impossible. Example: When you use a hand drill you give the bit some push to drill through wood or steel. Drilling rock is pretty darn tough and if you don't or can't push down on the bit don't expect to get any where. We have the only mid size rig that exerts downward pressure that you control..... the toy post hole auger rigs are not designed to drill through rock.
The questions most asked are: 1. Will the rig drill through rock? Answer: Our drilling rigs are designed to drill through sedimentary rocks knowing all softer materials are easily penetrated. 2. Why do you sell info packages if you build drilling rigs commercially? Answer: We will not forget those who want to save money and can do things for themselves. 3. How much does it cost to build the drilling rig described in the info package? Answer: The rig is scalable and while some will really hunt for the best prices on parts and get a rig built for $1,200.00 another may scale their rig up and have $4,000.00 or $10,000.00 or more invested. Many folks just want to save money and have the confidence they can build the rig themselves. 4. Does the rig package show how to build a rig to use downward pressure using hydraulic chain drive or your hydraulic powered patent pending screw drive? Answer: No, these advanced methods are used on our heavier class rigs or commercial rigs.
This hydraulic rig may also be used to drill your geothermal wells. Build the rig yourself with the information provided and save lots of $$'s. Use "Buy it Now" & Start Building Your Rig Today! Texas state sales tax of 8.25% applies to Texas residents.
