| | Album notes | Personnel includes: Burt Bacharach, Joel Grey, Tony Middleton. Includes liner notes by Jim Pierson and Mike Gross. Digitally remastered by Paul Elmore (MCA Music Studios, North Hollywood, California). Released in 1966 on Kapp Records, this was Bacharach's first solo album after over half a decade spent writing and producing enormous hits for artists like Dionne Warwick and Gene Pitney. Several of the hits Bacharach essays here, mostly with instrumental or choir-vocal arrangements, are inextricably tied with Warwick, including "Walk On By," "Don't Make Me Over" and "Anyone Who Had A Heart." Others, like "My Little Red Book," "There's Always Something There To Remind Me," and "What's New Pussycat," were hits for, respectively, Love, Sandie Shaw and Tom Jones. Bacharach's stylish, graceful performances, however, prove every one to be, as the title says, Burt Bacharach hits. The 1997 MCA CD reissue includes five bonus tracks, including the original version of Bacharach's standard "A House Is Not A Home."
