This is a RARE C1820-50 Printed Handkerchief History of a Quartern Loaf measuring 12 1/4" x 9 1/2" and is of American origin. It is a printed cotton instructional handkerchief about baking bread, and is one of a series of mid century encyclopedic instructional handkerchiefs concerned with the functions of daily life. It has some fade, wear and staining with a large hole to the top right corner, to the middle and many little ones to the top half. There is an extremely narrow handstitched hem to three sides and the other is a selvage. The motif titles include: The Plowman, The Sower, The Reaper, The Thresher, The Miller, and The Baker.
