This is the area of the Historical Mother Lode, Placer county where the black sand
containing gold and valuable minerals, blankets the countryside.
This is where the gold rush was, many years ago with crude equipment, many millions
were made by those willing to stake and work their claims.
The largest gold-mining district in California is the famous
Mother Lode of the Sierra Nevada.
Discovered in the early 1850s, the lode is a zone one to four miles wide and running 120 miles
northwest-southeast from El Dorado County in the north, through Amador, Calaveras,
and Tuolumne counties, to Mariposa County in the south. The gold of the Mother Lode
is in quartz veins within phyllite, schist, slate, and greenstone.
Through 1959, the Mother lode produced about 13.3 million troy ounces (414 tonnes) of gold.
Since the days of the California gold rush in 1849, prospectors,
treasure hunters and vacationers have flocked to California
to hunt for gold. They use gold pans, sluice boxes, metal
detectors, dredges and dry washers in their prospecting efforts.

Placer Mining is most common in Placer County.
Most mining operations dig in to the ancient tertiary
gravels of perpendiclar river channels that have made this
the Mother Lode. The Gold Canyon is just on the other side
of the hill from a placer mine, the Merz Mine.
Perhaps you will get to find the channel too.
Ideal for metal detecting, and rock collecting.
There is a nearby creek with water year-round,
though it probably freezes in the winter.
This claim is at 6,000 feet, so it is not accessable year-
round, as they close up this road after the first big snowfall.
This claim has no water on it.
The winning bidder will receive:
A Notarized Quit claim deed
Printed and electronic internet topo maps
Complete directions to the claim
Instructions on maintaining the claim
GPS Coordinates
All of the forms you will need
