This item includes one bone-clasped case (t'ao) in blue cloth; case has mild edge wear (with chip at one corner) and sunning to case-side with title plate (with hand-written characters). Endpapers are toned. Case measures 6.25" x 10.25" when closed and 21.25" x 10.25" when open. Includes three (3) string-bound bifolium (ch'uan), which show mild cover wear and light foxing of pages; vast majority of pages clean. All three volumes are over 100 pages in length and are bound in tan paper with black Chinese characters/kanji on covers. Two of the volumes contain only calligraphy (in black with red accents); the third contains calligraphy (in black, with red and green accents) as well as a few stunning illustrations, two pages of which are in gorgeous color. Binding is tight. The textblocks are square, and the pages are intact. Slight edgewear. Approximate publication date is late 19th century, though only an educated guess.
