Canon A-1 camera
Introduced in 1978 as the flagship of the A series of cameras the A-1 quickly became popular with pros and serious amateurs alike. The A-1 accepts all FL and FD lenses (not EOS) and is manual focus only. Built to a very high quality standard (like the F-1 and EF it will outlive 234 Rebels) the A-1 is known for it's instinctual controls and one touch switching from aperture to shutter priority.
The PC sync cover, body cap, and eye cup are included.
Specifics of this camera: (scale of 1-10)
Optical --10 All glass is perfect-crystal clear. No haze, no scratches, no fungus, no marks, no spots, no dust. No anomalies of any kind. The mirror, viewfinder and focusing screen are pristine.
Mechanical --10 All mechanical parts work perfectly, the bayonet mount is as new, the pressure plate is smooth and the battery compartment is clean. The shutter is perfect, JUST LUBED-NO SQUEAK, light seals and mirror foam are fresh. The lightmeter is right on against a Gossen Luna Pro. There are no loose or missing parts. ALL mechanical functions work just as they should.
Cosmetic --8+ No dents, dings, or scratches. Brassing is virtually nonexistent, mostly restricted to a touch around the shutter button collar. Any use marks are small and subtle . The black enamel finish is deep, dark and shiny the white lettering is bright and crisp. This is a very nice looking camera.
All in all an outstanding example of this wonderful 27 year old. They do not make them like this anymore and perhaps never again will.

Camera Buyers Tip #5
CANON SQUEAL This is a lubrication (lack of) condition. The Canon A series cameras (AE-1, A-1, AE-1 Program) require periodic lubrication of the mirror return mechanism every 10-20 years. The first sign that lube is needed is a squeak or squeal that the camera makes from time to time when the shutter is fired. The next sign is when you hear the squeak every time you fire the shutter, by then the mirror may be returning slowly and you can not take two pictures in rapid succession. The final phase is total mirror lockup.
