This auction is for a large and exceptionally presentable meteorite specimen with lots of unique features. A meteorite of this character and size only become available once in a great while and we are very happy with all the aspects of this one; It is very clean, displays extremely well and has all the attributes of a well preserved Canyon Diablo. Furthermore it is tipping the scale at 15 pounds! This Canyon Diablo also has a good size inclusion with an obvious graphite nodule in it. Needless to say that a feature like that makes this an exceptional find! Weighs 6,803 grams. Approx. dimensions are 20cm x 9.5cm x 9.5cm "This type of meteorite was originally found in 1891. Coconino County, Arizona, U.S.A. Located at 35 degrees 3 minutes North, 111 degrees 2 minutes West" This site is now known as "Meteor Crater." "It is classified as an Iron, coarse octahedrite (IA). The average composition is 92% Fe and 7% Ni. Diamonds have occasionally been found within carbon deposits associated with this type of meteorite."
