CAPT.COOK'S VISIT TO SOUTH SEAS ENGRAVING BY PAGE c1790

A rare old engraving depicting two scenes, taken from Millar's  "New Complete & Universal System of Geography", published in 1782.

One is entitled "THE MODE OF DANCING IN THE ISLAND OF ULIETEA " and the other "EXACT REPRESENTATION OF  A MORAL OR BURIAL PLACE IN OTAHEITEE".

Engraved by Page.

It dates from the period of Captain Cook's journeys to the south seas in the late 1700s, and would have given Europeans their first glimpse of life in a very remote and unfamiliar place.

This is an attractive item  - don't miss it !
