Even if adolescent pop star Aaron Carter is destined to become the Jimmy Osmond of the 21st Century, he's determined to go out fighting. Following up the huge success of its predecessor, OH AARON follows a similar formula, employing elements of R&B, hip-hop and pure pop production. Though the title song concerns Carter's difficulty in scoring a boatload of tickets to a Backstreet Boys concert for his friends, the young pop idol largely eschews the romantic ballad style of said teenpoppers--that may come after he gets a bit more puberty under his belt. Instead, this is largely a party album, powered by funky synth bass, drum loops, and sock-it-to-'em hooks. On "Not Too Young, Not Too Old," Carter sings about playing both sides of the age game to his advantage. "Stride" finds Aaron rapping over the chorus of Matthew Wilder's '80s hit "Break My Stride." Though he engages in an amiable rap style for most of the album, Carter does manage to croon one sentimental ballad, "I'm All About You," which will surely have his predominantly female following weeping into their junior high yearbooks.
