The idea for the cat cot came from our rescue volunteers who first created some “hammocks” to hang in crates for the rescue cats. Instead of curling up in their litter box, as cats in crates and cages often do, they were able to feel comfortable and secure in an elevated position which cats instinctively favor. They also love the feeling of being cradled and suspended.
Our "crate cats" liked the hammocks so much, we decided to design something for cats that have the run of the house. After trying numerous designs we came up with a high quality, sturdy and stable, foldable steel tube frame. The cot / hammock itself is made of a tough indoor outdoor canvas type fabric with a laminated waterproof back. Impervious to claws! The edges are scalloped. It is easy to remove and replace for gentle washing in warm water.
The Pet FBI Cat Cot is 17" high, about the height of a standard chair or window sill. It measures 20" on each side. It will hold a lot of weight, just in case a kid sits on it by accident. I weigh 120 lbs and it will easily support my full weight. It is also available in various other skirted and unskirted styles and fabrics.
