This is a very good book!  In The Last World War Sir Emment Culligan, K.S.G., has taken the almost universal feeling of our day - that the world is in serious crisis - and has traced this feeling to some definite causes, some economic, some political, but ultimately all spiritual.  What James Hollenbeck has called "the uneasiness of today...the consciousness that we are passing through a very grave crisis of civilization." is here found to be the realization that man's departure from the moral law must inevitably bring some kind of retribution. Wars are not entirely caused by the machinations of politicians, though they are usually occasioned by them.  The causes lie deeper.  Man's insubordination to God, man's disobediance.  And so sin is at the bottom of all wars.  You and I have had a share in causing the sufferings of countless exiles as they trekked across Europe, Jews seeking their ancient homeland, Poles and Austrians seeking asylum under the statue of Liberty.  The unhappy Cubans in flight from their tyrant-dictator are but paying the price in God's way for the sins of mankind.  When these sins are curbed, when sinners turn again to God, wars will cease and we will have the triumphant peace so ardently sought by men today.  This is a wonderful book and is so insightful that it will cause you to stop and think deeply of the events today that are happening.  Are we close?  Some say "Yes"  I believe so.
