| HOWDY! This 1"x6"x16" Red Cedar sign is an example of the unique sign I will make just for you! Combining the distinctive color and grain patterns of this beautiful wood with your personalized name and design, the two of us will create a truly one-of-a-kind sign.
I start with 1" cedar, carefully matching the wood to the message to be carved. The layout is all done freehand, as is the actual router carving, using several different V-groove bits to vary the width and depth of the cuts. A deer scene is shown, but other animals can also be done. Let me know what you want! Then the edges are scalloped, black paint is applied, and the entire board is finish sanded.
The final step is applying the clear protective sealer. All of my signs are sealed on the back and edges, along with the front, to make them as water and sun resistant as possible. This requires multiple coats of UV resistant varnish; and each coat needs to dry thoroughly before the next is applied. Depending upon temperature and humidity, this process may take several days.
The completed sign will last for years and be a totally unique addition to your, or a friend's, home or business!
