CELTIC BARD
Bards were amoing the most revered figures in all of ancient Celtic society. A bard was considered worthy company for a king, and was always seated at the royal table. Bards were not only gifted harpists and musicians: they were the keepers of culture and history with their epic poetry. The works of the celebrated bards, like Amergin of Ireland and Taliesin of Wales, are the sources of much of our knowledge of the ancient British Isles. The most recent, the beloved Turlough O'Carolan, flourished only a few centuries ago.
I've crafted this lovely and delicate necklace to celebrate them--and all the modern bards who continue their ancient tradition. The centerpiece is an intricately detailed sterling Celtic harp (known as a 'clarsah'). The harp hangs from a Celtic triquetra pendant, and is accented with the most prized combination of gemstones in their society.
Amber and jet, both the remains of prehistoric trees, were highly valued by the Druids for this reason, and worn by priestesses and wealthy women. This is very special amber: pure and clear deep cherry amber from the Baltic, and it would have been cherished indeed. The jet is genuine Victorian British jet from the famed Whitby mines in Yorkshire, the very same mines that provided jet to the Celts of the ancient British Isles. The amber is 5 and 6mm., the jet is 5mm. in size. All hang from sterling chain; the necklace measures 20.5" long and closes with a lobster clasp.
A perfect necklace for any lady who works with the creative fires, or celebrates the Celtic heritage of music and poetry.
All metals used are sterling silver, and all gemstones are genuine.

PLEASE NOTE: The shipping charges include postage, insurance, delivery confirmation and packing materials. The postage charge you see on the mailer is only PART of the shipping charge! The insurance is by third-party coverage so you will not see a USPS insurance sticker on the package, but it is insured.
Payment must be received no later than 7 days from date of sale, or the item will be relisted and a claim filed with EBay.
