"Chalom Gimel"
("The Gimel Dream")
by Adam Rhine
|
|
| "The Lord is great and
highly extolled, yet inscrutable is His greatness.."
(Psalm 145)
Gimel, the
third letter, is often thought to resemble a person with a foot extended
to the left, running to give charity to the poor. Its value of three reminds
us of our forefathers, Abraham, Issac, and Jacob, as well as G-d’s
presence in the holy matrimony between a man and a woman.
Power can
also be found in Gimel, as it begins the words for strength (gevurah),
might (gibor), and greatness (gadol). Strengthen yourself within the union
of your marriage, your family, and your friendships by the inclusion of
G-d’s presence.

About Adam Rhine:
Adam Rhine is a Judaica artist who creates ornate, highly detailed watercolor
paintings from his studio in the Chicago area. While his approach is reminiscent
of medieval illuminated manuscripts, his unique style combines Hebrew imagery
with modern palettes and aesthetics.
He is a member of the American Guild of Judaica Art, and in September, 2004,
Adam was interviewed by the Hallmark Channel to discuss his art and inspirations.
Several of his works are currently hanging in the Rothschild Gallery, St.
Louis, MO. In 2005, his art was featured on the covers of both Kashrus Magazine,
and the Texas Jewish Post.
Adam’s intense imagery can be found in the best-selling 2005-6
“Hebrew Illuminations” wall calendar, (available at Barnes
& Noble, Borders, and Amazon), two lines of greeting cards, an all-weather
vinyl Sukkah banner, hand-painted needlepoint canvases, cross-stitch chart
packs, decorative die-cut gift bags, and even full-color Kosher chocolate
candies!
A “Hebrew Illuminations” hardcover art book will be available
at Barnes & Noble and Borders in late 2006 that will feature 44 of
his paintings, including his brand new Illuminated Hebrew Letter series.
