This is a completely handcrafted sterling silver heart pendant with 169 pieces of inlay.
Go ahead count them...like "counting sheep" ha ha. Can you imagine cutting each piece on a grinding stone and then gluing each piece to fit inside the "CHANNEL"... hence it's called "channel inlay." A task not for the faint hearted.
The bursting colors unfolding in the shape of the heart is an extremely fantastic touch.
A HEART represents love in all its many aspects, from romantic love to friendship to agape, or love of our fellow humans. They are also seen as symbolizing "having heart" the power of courage and will that allows heroes and other courageous humans to stand up and face their battles. To the ancient Egyptians and some other cultures, it was the heart, rather than the brain, which was seen as the organ that held the person's mind and soul.
Expertly handcut stones and shells ideally lend themselves to the visual flow of this artwork. Only our industry's top materials were utilized such as genuine turquoise. Generally when we make this style of jewelry we also used premium man made silicon opal, rich red coral, white buffalo stone, gorgeous gaspeite, yellow & sunkist orange spiny oyster shell, pretty pink mussel shell, plum purple sugilite, luscious lapis lazuli, and black as the night jet.
All colors that you see were individually hand cut. Piece by piece these stones and shells were handcut and handset, and slowly the design comes to life. This is a very tedious and time consuming operation but this is the only way we make our jewelry... the old fashion way, by hand.

This creation measures 1 9/16" long (including the bail) X 1 1/8" at its widest portion.
