CHARMING CIVIL WAR ERA GIRLS BLUE/WHITE BUSTLE OUTFITThis is an attractive calling outfit of the 1870's period, that a mid to upper class girl would wear. This lovely girl's outfit consists of a matching bodice and skirt with lovely ruffles to the front, cuffs and skirt. .
Bodice:The front of the bodice is nicely accented with double ruffles and blue fabric covered buttons on each side of the bodice and runs downward to the back. The sleeves has a slight curve at the elbow and beautifully constructed with a lovely ruffled cuff, and piped drop shoulder seams. No underarm discolorations. The bodice is lined with cream colored cotton lining and the back has a 8 center button closure. The waistline ends in a point in both the front and the back and the back being lower.
Skirt: The matching skirt falls straight in the front with pleating at the waist line and, the lower portion of the skirt is decorated with pleating above hem line. The skirt is fully lined in brown polished cotton and has a center back hook/eye closure. The lining of both the bodice and skirt are in very good condition, but the bodice and skirt has some small holes and tears as seen in the photos. This would not detract when used as a display piece. The skirt also has some tears and holes scattered throughout. The waist line still retains original running stitches. The material does seem to be fairly sturdy throughout the rest of the garment. Some seam openings, an easy fix.
Measurements: shoulders=15", bustline=29", bodice waist=26", skirt waist=26", waist to hemline in front=26". A terrific and exciting garment in a youthful style.
