Here is a beautiful example of a Chelsea U.S. Navy Mark 1 Deck Clock 1942 . Measuring 8 1/2 in. across the back and 4 in. deep. The movement incorperates an 11 jewel gold plated platform escapement. Serial number 391174 is stamped on the movement and scratched on it's case which dates it to the 1940's. The case is made of a black bakelite and as you can see the wall mount is included . This timepiece was made to exacting government specifications. The dial of the clock displays the circled N which is the symbol of the U.S. Naval Observatory and serial # 42479. There is also a bit seconds hand. There are a few scuffs on the lens but that does not detract from its display. Made by Chelsea Clock Americia's last surviving clockmaker "The timekeepers of the Sea" for over 100 years.
