INTERNATIONAL DESIGN

This is the style of chessmen which has come into favor in high level international chess play. Four queens are included in this set, just in case a pawn promotes while the queen is still on the board. No more upside-down rooks.

HEAVY, FINELY CARVED SET

This set is felted and heavily weighted: the pieces weigh 2 pounds, 5 ounces. They are finely carved and polished. They are of boxwood; the black pieces are deeply stained to simulate ebony.
The king stands 3 3/4 inches -- the size recommended for tournament play.

INLAID BOX/BOARD, CHESS RULES INCLUDED

The board measures 14 1/8 inches, with squares of 1 9/16 inches (see photos below).
The squares are inlaid in two natural woods, with a pleasant border. Inside, the box/board is lined with a soft, protective flock coating.
It comes in a soft, durable felt sleeve.
A pamphlet is included, clearly instructing the official rules of chess with diagrams and explanations in plain English.
