CHIC Black Wool & Satin Vintage 80s LUIS ESTEVEZ Suit M

If you know my listings, you'll know that I'm thoroughly an Estevez devotee. I had intended on saving this gorgeous suit for my upcoming web site and have had this stashed away for a while, but bills do have a way of cropping up. So, here it is, for your viewing and wearing pleasure.

An exquisite, exactingly tailored 1940s-inspired suit by Mr. Luis Estevez, circa the late 1980s. Made of jet black finely woven soft wool, with the jacket horizontally piped in black silk satin. It closes down the front with small satin covered buttons and loops, set precisely on each line of piping, alternated with fabric-covered snaps. There is a subtle peplum pieced in separately from the piping at the waist to the hem. Very figure-flattering fit. Large collar dips down to a V-neckline. Very light padding at the shoulders, fully lined in black silk. The skirt is a classic straight cut, slightly A-line, with double darts on the front, single darts on the back, an invisible back zipper, is also fully lined, and has 7-inch kick pleat on the back. Understated enough for day wear, and makes a perfect dinner suit with a touch of diamonds.

A note: As I was photographing it, I noticed the skirt and the jacket bear different labels. The jacket has the brown on white embroidered Estevez label, the skirt one I've not seen before - black on white 'Estevez Couture,' indicating these were sold as coordinating high end separates. The blacks match, the wool on the skirt has a slightly satiny finish, but then that goes so well with the satin finish of the buttons and piping, no one would ever know the difference. (Including me, up until today!)

Part of the collar is on the right, right upper shoulder on the left. Difficult to capture the slight fuzziness, but I think this does a decent job of it.
