When a WWII serviceman meets an aspiring showgirl, they begin a passionate affair where desire has no limits. This proves to be a dangerous thing as fantasies become dangerous realities and lead them into the world of murder. Based on a true story.

Notes
Based on an actual case that was featured in British tabloid headlines in 1944. The Karl Hulton/Elizabeth Maud Jones murder case, also known as the Cleft Chin Murder Case, implicated a London showgirl and an American GI in the murder of an English cab driver. Hulton now holds the dubious distinction of being the only American to be hanged by the British Government.

The film was billed as a "Bonnie and Clyde"-type picture.  "Bonnie and Clyde," the 1967 American film directed by Arthur Penn, was based on a true story about a young couple in Texas whose original petty criminal exploits lead to murder and eventually, their own execution-style murders.

Premiered at the 1990 Cannes Film Festival.

The French translated title for the film is "Chicago Joe et la Show Girl."
