This auction is for one handmade CHIKUSING leather Shakuhachi Utaguchi (blowing edge) cap. This one is made for the standard 1.8 length that is measured around 1 3/8" across the top blowing edge. The default colors are black or brown and available in three different sizes to fill all lengths and shakuhachi instruments. Please specify if you require other sizes. I designed the Chikusing Cap around 1996 after a leather cap I saw from one of my shakuhachi mentors - Yukio Tsuji. I designed these to be adjustable and form fitting. I have since made them available through out the world and I am happy to see other makers now using them. In 2002, I received combined grants from both the Japanese and American governments to live in Japan to specifically study shakuhachi making. I studied crafting under Kinya Sogawa who was a live-in apprentice to Chikusen Tamai, the famous maker who apprenticed Hoshi Bonchiku, Yamaguchi Shugetsu, Tom Deaver and other professional Japanese makers today. Kinya also studied shakuhachi music under Katsuya Yokoyama, who studied under Watazumi himself. My understanding of making and playing evolves daily. I see that it will take a lifetime (or more) to master this wonderful and unique instrument. Domestic shippiig is done within 24 hours or sometimes 48 hours unless a purchase falls on a Friday, then it is process the next business day.

International shipping for this cap will be be processed within one week because I only go to the post office physically once a week. This keeps your international shipping cost down. The minimum for international mail pick-up is around $27. The international flat rate cost for this cap is $8. Doesn't get cheaper than this for international mailing.
