Here is a terrific alternative to the child leash/harness. I really don't even like to use the term "leash" or "harness" as they have such a negative connotation when talking about our children, but unfortunately they are terms occasionally used for these types of devices and terms utilized in searching for them. Also, unfortunately, because of the crazy world we live in, it has become ever more necessary to protect our children and keep them close, especially when in crowded places such as airports, shopping malls, theme parks and the like. The "Child Protector/Safety Vest" on the other hand doesn't resemble anything like the typical leash or harness that is currently on the market, but instead looks like a normal article of clothing. Also, unlike the wrist strap designs, ours lets your child have both hands free. Our vest is made from a durable, light-weight cotton - designed to be worn over existing clothing or by itself.

The vest is designed in one size which will fit most children from about 12 months up to 4T. It is currently being offered in several color patterns - please see the list below - although the patterns may vary depending upon demand or availability (If this changes we will let you know before shipping and make sure we have something you'll be happy with). As you can see from the photos, we've made these in several different colors and patterns, so if there's a particular color or pattern you'd like, we'd be happy to make it (depending upon availability of certain fabric in our area).

The vest has a large muff-type pocket on the front which is open on either side. The cloth belt/strap slips through the muff/pocket and around the child's waist, then through a small loop on the belt itself (keeping the ends together for easier grasp), and the ends clip together with a sturdy plastic clip. The end with the clip can then be held by the adult, wrapped around the wrist, or it can be clipped to their belt, belt loop, etc., leaving both your hands free. The vest itself has two large pieces of hook and loop tape sewn on the back for closures, also making the garment somewhat adjustable size wise. Also, having a back closure means the child can't easily undo it themselves and slip out of it.

The front of the vest also has several large pockets, one which is sewn directly onto the muff and one large one across the lower half of the vest and divided in the middle with a seam, allowing the child to carry toys, drink/bottle, etc.. Also the strap can be easily coiled up and stored in one of the pockets when the vest is not being worn.
