Item specifics
Type: NEW OLD STOCK

This auction is for ONE new, never-issued two-piece M1 helmet replacement chinstrap. It is genuine US government issue, NOT a reproduction and NOT a copy. This strap was produced in the USA between 1965 and 1972 by North and Judd Mfg. Co. in New Britain, Connecticut. It is OD#7 (olive green) cotton webbing and comes with a FLAT black oxide metal finish with crimp-on tabs. It has the T1 "ball and hook" release and is correct for the late WWII through post-Vietnam period. Strap is 16 inches long when connected.

These type straps were used by US Forces from November 1944 until about 1986.  They were replaced about 1980 by a nylon/cotton split-chin hook-in strap that didn't require a tool for installation.

Let me know if you'd like a strap with an anchor. Unless you tell me otherwise, at checkout or when you pay, I will ship one without the anchor . These two types of straps are identical except for the anchor stamping*.

Or, if you prefer, you can request a  NATO type chinstrap with a SHINY black finish on thinner metal. Although my supplier states that these  were made in the USA, this is questionable.  The pictures show the difference. Again, let me know if you have a preference.

You are bidding on ONE chinstrap of your choice, NOT THREE

Shipping by first class mail is FREE in the US including delivery confirmation. Delivery typically in 2 - 4 days. You'll pay exactly what you bid.  Insurance not necessary.

Shipping to anywhere else is $2.  In the event of loss outside the US we will provide proof of mailing only.

*Apparently, the anchor logo was first used in the early sixties and was discontinued when the manufacturer, North and Judd, was acquired by Gulf and Western Industries in 1967. Between 1951 and 1958 N&J  painted the metal a light olive green. We currently do NOT have any straps from this period ('51  - '58). A late WWII replacement strap is OD7 cotton webbing, black painted metal and NO anchor. All crimp-on straps were OD7, not OD3 (khaki).
