 From the files of a journalist, recently deceased, who began covering Hollywood in 1945. The sources were many and varied -- studios, networks, production companies, agencies, his own photographers and sometimes himself -- and were used to illustrate his articles. Original captions, photographer’s credits & production numbers still existing have been preserved and are included. For protection, the item has been placed in archival quality poly.

This is an 8x10 black-and-white photograph of a scene from the popular cop series CHiPS (77 - 83) featuring 1976 Olympic Decathlon Winner BRUCE JENNER who joined the cast as OFFICER STEVE MCLEISH in the 81-82 season opposite series stars LARRY WILCOX and ERIK ESTRADA. The photo ID “CH-5-3” is printed in the lower left corner of the picture area and the number “5” does seem to indicate the fifth season. You will note that the title of the series in the lower border is given as “CHiPs Patrol” rather than simply “CHiPs”; apparently this is because the syndication title was different than the first-run title. I suspect lawyers are to blame for this kind of unnecessary nonsense. Anyway, because the above-mentioned journalist dealt with foreign newspapers and magazines, he would frequently be supplied with materials from the overseas or syndicated side of the distribution and publicity machines of these TV programs.
