Front cover has an illustration of a Victorian style Christmas.  Endpapers are fully illustrated. This book was issued without a dust jacket.   Describes Christmas Eve celebrations at the Rancho Los Alamitos in the early twentieth century.  Family history and recollections of Christmas on an old Spanish land grant rancho, originally of 28,000 acres, by a family which lived in it from 1878 until the core 7.5 acres was given to the city of Long Beach. This is the second Christmas publication issued by the California Historical Society. The book includes a foreword by Susanna Bryant Dakin. "On Christmas Eve the ranch families began to come while Father and Mother were still in the dining room, with their dinner guests. Since automobiles had become more reliable and pieces of the thirty-mile road from Los Angeles had been macadamized, aunts and uncles and friends were invited to join our Christmas Eve celebrations."

Book is in very good condition.  2 names written on endpage (one in pen, the other in pencil). No other writing, tears, etc.  Interior pages very nice and clean.
