Rags to Riches
Breyer traditional Lonesome Glory model customized and painted by me, Beatha Sellman, as a portrait of the incredible racemare Rags to Riches. Rags won the Belmont last year over Curlin, who was later named Horse of the Year. She only lost two races in her entire race, her first race and her last, when she was injured. Changes made to Lonesome Glory include making "him" a "her" with a very subtle, small udder, swishy tail, braided forelock (Rags wore one in the Belmont, and it was fairly long), extended upper lip to show some attitude, one ear flipped back, muscling on the jowls added, and veining added on the ears, face, sides of the legs and between the buttocks. I tried to give her some more attitude with these changes, since she is apparently not a very friendly filly. All seams sanded, ears carved, raised hooves carved, logo removed, and airhole moved to between the hind legs with the original one filled in. I airbrushed her a luscious red chestnut - this is not a boring chestnut by any means. Lots of subtle shading, including of the musculature. Tiny pink areas inside the nostrils. The photos don't show it but there's pink on her chin also, just like the real Rags. I looked at hundreds of photos to try to get the markings as correct as possible. Details done by hand with acrylics and pastels. Markings mapped with charcoal pencils. Eyes are multi-colored, with lacrymal glands and blue tint to the pupil. She was given a couple of light coats of Krylon Crystal Clear and then several coats of Testor Dull-Cote for a soft matte finish. Hooves and eyes are glossed. New and unshown, and I consider her LSQ. My work has shown very well with limited showing, with many NAN qualifications, and my horses have also shown well internationally. Non-smoking home, but I do have pets.
She does sell with a reserve, it's quite reasonable. Please email me if you want to know the reserve, I'll happily tell you.
I'll happily sell internationally, but I will not ship to any country within Africa without the buyer checking with me first.
She will be very carefully packed and shipped either Priority with insurance for domestic buyers. Domestic shipping and insurance are included. I will happily ship internationally, but because I'm now a business, I do need to declare the full cost and it will not be marked as a "gift." International shipping will be $20.00 in addition to the cost of the item, which includes a new box - I will not smoosh her into a small box. Insurance is not available for international sellers except with expedited shipping. I can do that, but there will be an additional charge. I typically ship within 24 hours of payment clearing, and I pack very well. Because shipping is included, there are no shipping discounts if you buy more than one item, except for international customers.
Because I am a business, I need to charge Texas sales tax of 8.25% if shipping within the state of Texas.
I accept any kind of PayPal as well as USPS money orders. PayPal only for international customers unless other arrangements are made with me prior to bidding. Payments must be for EXACT amount to avoid certain scams.
I reserve the right to block bidders with a lot of negative feedback or a history of non-payment. Please do not bid unless you are planning on paying - I will leave negative feedback in that case.
