For sale is a Coaster or Butter Pat in the delightful American folk art pottery pattern SHIP & WHALE, a M. A. Hadley design.     M.  A. is for Mary Alice Hadley who began her venture into hand painted pottery made on a small scale around 1940.   This piece features an old whaling ship, it measures 4-3/8" in diameter and I suspect it is a Coaster although it could be a butter pat, it's a useful little size and would also make an ideal Pin or Ring Dish.   It is in excellent condition with no chips or flaws, the back is signed M A HADLEY.    Please feel free to email with any questions and thank you for looking.
