This is a completely handcrafted sterling silver pendant with 64 pieces of inlay.
Go ahead and count them... Can you imagine cutting each piece on a grinding stone and then gluing each piece to fit inside the "CHANNEL"... hence it's called "channel inlay." A task not for the faint hearted.
Like a painting, this celestial tableau might at first glance may appear rather flat and one-dimensional. But by gazing at this scene long enough, our minds can perhaps picture these objects strung out across the solar system, along our line of sight as they really are.
Expertly handcut stones and shells ideally lend themselves to the visual flow of this artwork. Topping the list are genuine turquoise and natural iridescent pearl oyster shell. Generally when we make this style of jewelry we also used premium man made silicon opal, granny apple green gaspeite, luscious lapis lazuli, pink mussel shell, rich red coral, Sunkist orange spiny oyster shell, white buffalo stone, pretty pink mussel shell, and black as the night jet.
All colors that you see are individually hand cut and hand set to perfectly fit against each other. Piece by piece, these stones and shells were set right into the silver frame and slowly the design comes to life.
Please note our beloved old #8 spiderweb turquoise EARTH. An extra little bonus.
The stars... some as small as the tip of a pin, are all hand cut and hand inset, mark of a true artist.
