This is an 1885 massive rosewood concert grand piano. It was built by Decker Brothers in New York; even today they are remembered for heavy and well built pianos. This one measures well over seven feet. I think I measured it a seven feet four inches. This piano is doing very well considering its age. Fortunately some previous owner put a lot of money and effort into a fair amount of restoration. After looking at the strings, I would say work was done no more than 30 -35 years ago. The strings are still shiny and are not very old looking. All the felts must have been replaced as well as the hammers. Note in one of the photos how new the massive bass bridges look. The case has plenty of wear and there are water stains on the cabinet from some careless years but this piano plays and sounds a lot better than it looks. It has a great tone and fantastic power. I really like how the upper register projects very well with no hard edge or brittleness. It plays with even dynamics and it has a good action. Some work was obviously done there as well. I can’t say who did this work, how much was done or exactly when it was done. I am just reporting my impressions of it based on my career and seeing a lot of pianos. This Decker has its original ivories and they are in pretty great shape with just a very few small chips. Ivories. Rosewood. A great sound and feel and a magnificent frame design. This piano is available to whoever wants it. I own a small, local piano moving company and though the buyer is responsible for shipping, I can help facilitate moving and even gather some price quotes for bidders. Shipping is usually $400-$950 with in the US. The piano must be paid for within seven days of close of auction. Payment can be made with cashiers check or money order. Please email any questions.
