Water Series I (2008) explores the challenge of making rain into a beautiful and interesting subject matter. Using texture to add depth and vivid color to add interest Courtney interprets the rolling, rippling, drizzling, dripping infamy of rain. Transforming the dreary doom of rain into a delightful dance of color, shape, and movement.

About the Artist

Courtney Simms is a self-taught Canadian abstract artist who has been drawing since she could hold a crayon. Originally only interested in pencil and charcoal drawings it wasn't until 2005 that she added painting with acrylics into her artist repertoire. She is a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists. Her artwork is help in private collections all over North America.

Always fascinated by shapes and the never-ending scope of colors it seems only natural that her interpretations would marry them together. With her unique take on expressionist painting she creates her signature landscapes by incorporating vibrant, dramatic colors with interesting shapes.
