of the Oncpapa tribe in the Sioux Indian nation.
Chief "Ta-to-ka-in-yan-ka"
Born in 1821 (in what is now) Grand Forks, SD,
known to white men as Chief Running Antelope.
His tribe was the Oncpapa (pronounced Hunkpapa) of the Sioux Nation.
He contributed significantly to bridging the
divide between white men and Native Americans.
