A NOTE ABOUT LPs
LPs make especially valuable acquisitions for your music library because copies
have become increasingly scarce, and offer many compositions and performances
that are still not available on compact disc. Additionally, analog recordings
generally have greater sonic depth than digital recordings.
BECAUSE LP ALBUMS ARE BIGGER THAN MY SCANNER BED,
THE SCANNED IMAGE DOES NOT SHOW THE FULL LP COVER
PUT YOUR LP MUSIC ON CDs!
Simply hook up a turntable containing a pre-amp to your PC and record your LP music to your hard disk.
Then burn the music files to CDs. With music editing software, you can even reduce the surface noise!

The series of LPs recorded by the Cornell University Wind Ensemble
under the baton of Marice Stith stands as one of the all-time great
collegiate recording series in the United States. The recordings began in
1969 and continued into the late 1980s, and were the results of the tireless
efforts of Stith, who conducted the performances and personally supervised
the recording sessions under the auspices of his own recording company.
The Cornell University Wind Ensemble at the time was composed of up to 65
musicians, most of them non-music majors. Stith molded these musicians into one
of the finest ensembles on the east coast, taking the band on tours and
performing world premieres of numerous works, many of them commissioned
by the ensemble and some of them performed from manuscript editions.
Among the many works premiered in the series are Wall Fantasy by Peter Herstein,
Errances for Concert Band by Noel Lee, Monoliths by Stuart Raleigh,
Fanfare & Invective by Chester Mais, St. Elmo's Fire by James Gibson,
Horizon by Samuel Pellman, and the The Garden of Proserpine by Alfred Reed.
Some of the albums in this series included appearances of guest conductors
and performers, including Anthony Iannaccone, Noel Lee, Nicolas Flagello,
Maya Flagello, Brian Israel, and Alfred Reed.
Stellar performances abound, including a stunning premiere of Maledictions
by Stuart Raleigh, an enjoyable interpretation of Royce Hall Suite by
Healy Willan, a brash premiere of Vulcan by Christopher Rouse, a masterful
reading of Dies Natalis by Howard Hanson, an impressive performance
of The Wind & the Lion by Jerry Goldsmith, a delightful take on Variations of a Theme
of Robert Schumann by William Davis, an enthusiastic Aegean Festival Overture by
Andreas Makris, and an absolutely wild, crazy performance of Pachinko by Paul Yoder.
With their crisp, high-quality sonorities and brash performances, the albums in this series
represent major contributions to the recorded literature of wind band music.

NOTICE TO INTERNATIONAL BUYERS:
Many of my lighter-weight listings have flat-rate international shipping options
in the drop-down menu. For these items, you can pay right away with PayPal.
But if an international shipping cost is NOT indicated, you will need email me
prior to buying so I can weigh the item(s). I will then email you back
with the shipping options and their costs. When you buy, I will
add these costs in your invoice to make payment easy.
Please note that I do not over-charge for international shipping.
I charge actual cost plus the costs of packaging, such as strapping
tape, bubble wrap, or the cost of an LP box.
I weigh all international orders prior to invoicing.
PLEASE NOTE THAT SHIPPING MULTIPLE HEAVIER ITEMS
INTERNATIONALLY, SUCH AS BOOKS, IS NOW VERY EXPENSIVE,
USUALLY TOO COSTLY TO ORDER MORE THAN ONE AT A TIME.
That's because for heavier items, the newest U.S. postal rates have eliminated the cheaper
economy & seamail shipping options in favor of the more expensive
1st Class International & International Priority Mail shipping classes.
Lighter items ideal for international simultaneous multiple purchases include CDs, DVDs,
cassette tapes, comics, etc., and up to 2-3 LPs at at time.
50 CENTS PER ADDITIONAL ORDERED ITEM SHIPPING DISCOUNT
DOES NOT APPLY TO INTERNATIONAL ORDERS.
I can usually offer multiple-purchase shipping discounts on international items when
they are purchased at the same time. But due to the wide weight range of items in my inventory,
and the cost variance to different worldwide destinations, I do not show flat-rate multiple item discounts in the
international shipping section---it's far too complex to do so. However, I will apply custom-determined
combined shipping discounts on an individual basis and include them in your invoice.
